أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الصَّفَّارُ، نَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي الدُّنْيَا، نَا مُحَمَّدٌ - أَظُنُّهُ ابْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ -، نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الطَّبِيبُ، نَا مَسْلَمَةُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ
قَالَ: قَالَ عَوْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ: " وَيْحِي، كَيْفَ أَغْفَلُ عَنْ نَفْسِي، وَمَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ لَيْسَ يَغْفُلُ عَنِّي؟، وَيْحِي، كَيْفَ أَتَّكِلُ عَلَى طُولِ الْأَمَلِ وَالْأَجَلُ يَطْلُبُنِي؟ "
