He said: We were with Abū Hurayrah, and he was wearing two garments of linen dyed with red ochre. He blew his nose in them and said: "Bakhin, bakhin! Abū Hurayrah blows his nose in linen! I have seen myself collapse between the pulpit and the room of ʿĀʾishah, overcome by hunger, and a passer-by would pass by me and place his foot on my neck, and the people would say: He is mad. And there was no madness in me, only hunger." In the narration of Sulaymān: "I would collapse between the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the room of ʿĀʾishah, overcome, and a man would place his foot on my neck, thinking that I was mad. There was no madness in me, only hunger."
