أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ، قَالَا: نَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ هُوَ الْأَصَمُّ، نَا الْخَضِرُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، نَا سَيَّارٌ، نَا جَعْفَرُ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ،
قَالَ: خَطَبَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ إِِلَى أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ ابْنَتَهُ الدَّرْدَاءَ فَرَدَّهُ وَأَنْكَحَهَا غَيْرَهُ، فَقِيلَ لِأَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ أَتَرُدُّ يَزِيدَ وَتُنْكِحُ فُلَانًا؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ: " مَا ظَنُّكُمْ بِابْنَةِ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ إِِذَا قَامَ عَلَى رَأْسِهَا الْخِصْيانُ وَنَظَرَتْ فِي بُيُوتٍ تُلْمِعُ مِنْهَا بَصَرَهَا، أَيْنَ دِينُهَا يَوْمَئِذٍ؟ "
