What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb al-Nasāʾī

حديث همام عن قتادة عن أنس منكر والصواب قتادة عن سعيد بن أبي الحسن

machine translationThe hadith of Hammām, from Qatādah, from Anas is rejected (munkar), and the correct version is Qatādah from Saʿīd b. Abī al-Ḥasan.

    in الشمائل المحمدية, p. 106
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

إنما هو سعيد بن أبي الحسن قال كان قبيعة سيف رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مرسلا بلا عبد الله بن عمرو

machine translationIt is only Saʿīd b. Abī al-Ḥasan, who said: The pommel of the sword of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was ... as a mursal report, without ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr.

    in الشمائل المحمدية, p. 106
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThere is disagreement about it regarding Qatādah. Jarīr b. Ḥāzim narrated it from Qatādah, from Anas, and likewise ʿAmr b. ʿĀṣim narrated it from Hammām, from Qatādah, from Anas. Hishām al-Dastuwāʾī and Naṣr b. Ṭarīf narrated it from Qatādah, from Saʿīd b. Abī al-Ḥasan, the brother of al-Ḥasan, as a mursal report (mursal), and this is the correct version.

    in الشمائل المحمدية, p. 106
  • al-Tirmidhi

    مرسل

machine translationMursal (a report in which a Successor omits the Companion and attributes it directly to the Prophet ﷺ)

    in الشمائل المحمدية, p. 106
