أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدٌ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ هُنَانٍ قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قُلْتُ إِنَّ لِي جُرَيْرَةً أَنْتَبِذُ فِيهَا حَتَّى إِذَا غَلَى وَسَكَنَ شَرِبْتُهُ قَالَ مُذْ كَمْ هَذَا شَرَابُكَ قُلْتُ مُذْ عِشْرُونَ سَنَةً أَوْ قَالَ مُذْ أَرْبَعُونَ سَنَةً قَالَ طَالَمَا تَرَوَّتْ عُرُوقُكَ مِنَ الْخَبَثِ

Translation

"I asked Ibn 'Abbas: 'I have a small jar in which I make Nabidh and when it has bubbled and settled down again, I drink it.' He said: 'For how long you have been drinking that?' He said: 'For twenty years'" - or he said: 'for forty years.' He said: 'For a long time you have been quenching your thirst with something forbidden.'"
