Hastening To Pray 'Asr

Show the chain

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray 'Asr, then a person could go to Quba'." One of them [1] said: "And he would come to them when they were prayed." The other said: "And the sub was still high." [1] Both Az-Zuhri and Ishaq bin 'Abdullah narrated it from Anas, so the reference is about them.

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThis is among the things for which Mālik is criticized, because he traced it back to the Prophet (marfūʿ) and said in it "to Qubāʾ"; a large number of narrators contradicted him, among them Shuʿayb b. Abī Ḥamzah, Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān, ʿAmr b. al-Ḥārith, Yūnus b. Yazīd, Maʿmar, al-Layth b. Saʿd and Ibn Abī Dhiʾb.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 506
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationHe mentioned the words of al-Dāraquṭnī and then said: Such a slight error (wahm) does not necessarily entail impugning the soundness of the hadith, especially since the two of them (al-Bukhārī and Muslim) have also transmitted the preserved (maḥfūẓ) narration.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 506
