أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ وَذَكَرَ آخَرُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ قَالَ
قُلْتُ لِجَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ كُنْتَ تُجَالِسُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ جَلَسَ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ فَيَتَحَدَّثُ أَصْحَابُهُ وَيَذْكُرُونَ حَدِيثَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَيُنْشِدُونَ الشِّعْرَ وَيَضْحَكُونَ وَيَتَبَسَّمُ»

✧ I said to Jabir b. Samurah: Did you sit with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? He said: “Yes. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the dawn prayer, he would sit in his prayer place until the sun rose. His companions would converse, mention the talk of the Jahiliyyah, recite poetry, and laugh, and he would smile.”
