أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي حَرْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو شَيْخٍ عَنْ أَخِيهِ حِمَّانَ

أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَامَ حَجَّ جَمَعَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ هَلْ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ رَوَاهُ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيِّ عَنْ جُمَّازَ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ

Translation

✧ In the year he performed Hajj, Mu'awiyah gathered a number of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Ka'bah and said to them: I adjure you by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid wearing silk? They said: Yes. He said: And I bear witness. Al-Awza'i narrated it from Yahya b. Abi Kathir, from Abu Shaykh al-Huna'i, from Jummaz, from Mu'awiyah.
