✧ The gold ring

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ
اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمَ ذَهَبٍ فَلَبِسَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِمَ الذَّهَبِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبِسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا» فَنَبَذَهُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ acquired a gold ring and wore it, so the people acquired gold rings. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I used to wear this ring, but I will never wear it again.' So he threw it away, and the people threw away their rings.
