أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ §قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَخَطَبَنَا وَأَخْرَجَ كُبَّةً مِنْ شَعْرٍ فَقَالَ

«مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَحَدًا يَفْعَلُهُ إِلَّا الْيَهُودَ» إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَلَغَهُ فَسَمَّاهُ «الزُّورَ»

Translation

Chain of narrators

  4. ʿAmr b. Murrah
  5. Saʿīd b. al-Musayyib

✧ “I did not think anyone would do it except the Jews.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard of it and called it “falsehood.”
