أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُقَالُ لَهُ عُبَيْدٌ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَنْهَانَا عَنْ كَثِيرٍ مِنَ الْإِرْفَاهِ سُئِلَ ابْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنِ الْإِرْفَاهِ فَقَالَ «التَّرَجُّلُ»

Translation

✧ A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ called Ubayd said: The Messenger of God ﷺ used to forbid us from much self-indulgence. Ibn Buraydah was asked about self-indulgence, and he said: “Combing the hair.”
