أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَقْدَمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ الْخَثْعَمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ قَالَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ وَمَدَّ شُعْبَةُ بِأُصْبُعِهِ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ ازْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ»

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled and mounted his riding camel, he said with his finger—and Shu'bah extended his finger—: 'O Allah, You are the Companion in travel and the Guardian over the family. O Allah, roll up the earth for us and make the travel easy for us. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel and the gloom of return.'
