✧ The pledge of allegiance upon emigration

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُبَايِعُهُ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ فَقَالَ «تَرَكْتُ أَبَوَيَّ يَبْكِيَانِ» قَالَ «فَارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمَا فَأَضْحِكْهُمَا كَمَا أَبْكَيْتَهُمَا»

Translation

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ to pledge allegiance to him upon emigration, and he said: I left my parents crying. He said: Then return to them and make them laugh as you made them cry.
