الْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأنا أَسْمَعُ عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ أَنَّ الْحَرُورِيَّةَ لَمَّا §خَرَجَتْ مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَقَالُوا «لَا حُكْمَ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ» قَالَ
عَلِيٌّ «كَلِمَةُ حَقٍّ أُرِيدَ بِهَا بَاطِلٌ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَصَفَ نَاسًا إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ صِفَتَهُمْ فِي هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ الْحَقَّ بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ لَا يَجُوزُ هَذَا مِنْهُمْ وَأَشَارَ إِلَى حَلْقِهِ مِنْ أَبْغَضِ خَلْقِ اللهِ إِلَيْهِ مِنْهُمْ أَسْوَدُ إِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ طُبْيُ شَاةٍ أَوْ حَلَمَةُ ثَدْيٍ فَلَمَّا قَاتَلَهُمْ عَلِيٌّ» قَالَ انْظُرُوا فَنَظَرُوا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا شَيْئًا فَقَالَ «ارْجِعُوا وَاللهِ مَا كَذَبْتُ وَلَا كُذِبْتُ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ وَجَدُوهُ فِي خَرِبَةٍ فَأَتَوْا بِهِ حَتَّى وَضَعُوهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ» قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ «أَنَا حَاضِرٌ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ وَقَوْلُ عَلِيٍّ فِيهِمْ»

✧ Ali said: “A word of truth by which falsehood is intended. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ described a people; I recognize their description in these who speak the truth with their tongues, but it does not pass beyond this from them”—and he pointed to his throat—“among the most hateful of God’s creation to Him. Among them is a black man, one of whose hands is like the teat of a ewe or the nipple of a breast.” When Ali fought them, he said, “Look.” They looked and found nothing. He said: “Go back. By God, I have not lied and have not been lied to—two or three times.” Then they found him in a ruin and brought him until they placed him before him. Ubayd Allah said: “I was present at that among their affair, and Ali’s statement about them.”
