al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 8369

✧ Remembering the saying of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), "I have been commanded to close these doors except for the door of Ali.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ مَيْمُونٍ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ

كَانَ لِنَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَبْوَابٌ شَارِعَةٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «سُدُّوا هَذِهِ الْأَبْوَابَ إِلَّا بَابَ عَلِيٍّ» فَتَكَلَّمَ فِي ذَلِكَ أُنَاسٌ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنِّي أُمِرْتُ بِسَدِّ هَذِهِ الْأَبْوَابِ غَيْرَ بَابِ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ فِيهِ قَائِلُكُمْ وَاللهِ مَا سَدَدْتُهُ وَلَا فَتَحْتُهُ وَلَكِنِّي أُمِرْتُ بِشَيْءٍ فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ»

✧ Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had doors opening into the mosque. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Close these doors except the door of 'Ali." People spoke about that, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, praised and extolled Allah, then said, "To proceed: I was commanded to close these doors except the door of 'Ali. Some of you have said about it, 'By Allah, I neither closed it nor opened it, but I was commanded with something and I followed it.'"
