أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حَبَّانُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ يَقُولُ فَزِعَ النَّاسُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَتَفَرَّقُوا فَرَأَيْتُ سَالِمًا احْتَبَى سَيْفَهُ فَجَلَسَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ ذَلِكَ فَعَلْتُ مِثْلَ الَّذِي فَعَلَ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَرَآنِي وَسَالِمًا وَأَتَى النَّاسَ» فَقَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَلَا كَانَ مَفْزَعُكُمْ إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ أَلَا فَعَلْتُمْ كَمَا فَعَلَ هَذَانِ الرَّجُلَانِ الْمُؤْمِنَانِ»

Translation

✧ I heard 'Amr b. al-'As say: The people in Madinah were alarmed along with the Prophet ﷺ, and they scattered. I saw Salim holding his sword close to him, sitting in the mosque. When I saw that, I did the same as he did. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out, saw me and Salim, and went to the people. He said: 'O people, should not your resort in fear be to Allah and His Messenger? Why did you not do as these two believing men did?'
