أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قُطْبَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ قَالَ

كُنَّا فِي دَارِ أَبِي مُوسَى فِي نَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ فِي مُصْحَفٍ فَقَامَ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَقَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ «مَا أَعْلَمُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَرَكَ بَعْدَهُ رَجُلًا أَعْلَمَ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ مِنْ هَذَا الْقَائِمِ» فَقَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى «لَئِنْ قُلْتَ ذَاكَ لَقَدْ كَانَ يَشْهَدُ إِذَا غِبْنَا وَيُؤْذَنُ لَهُ إِذَا حُجِبْنَا»

✧ We were in the house of Abu Musa with a group of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and they were looking at a copy of the Quran. Abdullah stood up, and Abu Mas'ud said: "I do not know of any man the Prophet ﷺ left behind who is more knowledgeable of what Allah has revealed than this one standing." Abu Musa said: "If you say that, then he used to attend when we were absent and was granted permission when we were screened off."
