أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ الْمَكِّيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ وَخَيْثَمَةَ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ «§مِنْ أَيْنَ جِئْتَ؟» قَالَ مِنَ الْعِرَاقِ وَتَرَكْتُ بِهَا رَجُلًا يُمَلِّي الْمُصْحَفَ عَنْ ظَهْرِ قَلْبِهِ قَالَ «وَمَنْ هُوَ؟» قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ «مَا فِي النَّاسِ أَحَدٌ أَحَقُّ بِذَلِكَ مِنْهُ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «أُحَدِّثُكَ

عَنْ ذَلِكَ سَمَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَخَرَجْنَا فَسَمِعْنَا قِرَاءَةَ رَجُلٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَتَسَمَّعَ» فَقِيلَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ يُصَلِّي قَالَ «سَلْ تُعْطَهْ ثَلَاثًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ رَطْبًا كَمَا أُنْزِلَ فَلْيَقْرَأْهُ كَمَا يَقْرَأُ ابْنُ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ»

✧ We spent a night with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the house of Abu Bakr. When we left, we heard the recitation of a man in the mosque, and he listened attentively. It was said, "A man from the Emigrants is praying." He said, "Ask, and you will be given," three times. Then he said, "Whoever wants to recite the Quran moist as it was revealed, let him recite it as Ibn Umm Abd recites."
