أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ الْمُحْصَنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْتُوا بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَاءَ} [النور 4] قَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عِبَادَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَإِنْ أَنَا رَأَيْتُ لَكَاعِ قَدْ تَفَخَّذَهَا رَجُلٌ لَا أَجْمَعُ الْأَرْبَعَةَ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ الْآخَرُ حَاجَتَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اسْمَعُوا مَا يَقُولُ سَيِّدُكُمْ»

✧ When {And those who accuse chaste women and then do not bring four witnesses} [al-Nur 4] was revealed, Sa'd b. Ubadah said: 'O Messenger of Allah, if I were to see a vile person with his legs wrapped around a woman, I would not be able to gather four witnesses before the other man finishes his business.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Listen to what your leader says.'
