أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عُبَادٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ يُقْسِمُ قَسَمًا لَقَدْ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {هَذَانِ خَصْمَانِ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي رَبِّهِمْ} [الحج 19] فِي عَلِيٍّ وَحَمْزَةَ وَعُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ وَشَيْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَعُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ اخْتَصَمُوا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ

Translation

✧ I heard Abu Dharr swear an oath: This verse was revealed: "These two opponents dispute with each other about their Lord" [al-Hajj 19] concerning Ali, Hamzah, Ubaidah b. al-Harith, Shaibah b. Rabi'ah, and Utbah b. Rabi'ah. They disputed on the day of Badr.
