أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُلَيْحٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ

طَعَنَ النَّاسُ فِي إِمَارَةِ ابْنِ زَيْدٍ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنْ تَطْعَنُوا فِي إِمَارَةِ ابْنِ زَيْدٍ فَقَدْ كُنْتُمْ تَطْعَنُونَ فِي إِمَارَةِ أَبِيهِ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ وَايْمُ اللهِ إِنْ كَانَ حَقِيقًا لِلْإِمَارَةِ وَإِنْ كَانَ لِمَنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ كُلِّهِمْ إِلَيَّ وَإِنَّ هَذَا لَأُحِبُّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ بَعْدَهُ فَاسْتَوْصُوا بِهِ خَيْرًا فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ خِيَارِكُمْ»

✧ People criticized the command of Ibn Zayd, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and said: "If you criticize the command of Ibn Zayd, you had criticized the command of his father before him. By Allah, he was indeed worthy of command, and he was among the most beloved of all people to me. And this one is the most beloved of people to me after him. So treat him well, for he is among the best of you."
