أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عِبَادَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ يُقَسِّمُ لَقَدْ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {هَذَانِ خَصْمَانِ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي رَبِّهِمْ} [الحج 19] فِي عَلِيٍّ وَحَمْزَةَ وَعُبَيْدَةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَشَيْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَعُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَالْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ اخْتَصَمُوا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ

Translation

✧ I heard Abu Dharr swearing: 'This verse was revealed — {These are two disputants who disputed concerning their Lord} [al-Hajj 19] — regarding 'Ali, Hamza, 'Ubaidah b. al-Harith, Shaibah b. Rabi'ah, 'Utbah b. Rabi'ah, and al-Walid b. 'Utbah. They disputed on the day of Badr.'
