✧ The example of the believer who recites the Quran

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ مَثَلُ الْأُتْرُجَّةِ طَعْمُهَا طَيِّبٌ وَرِيحُهَا وَمَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ الَّذِي لَا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ مَثَلُ التَّمْرَةِ طَعْمُهَا طَيِّبٌ وَلَا رِيحَ لَهَا وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ كَمَثَلِ الرَّيْحَانِ رِيحُهَا طَيِّبٌ وَطَعْمُهَا مُرٌّ وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ الَّذِي لَا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ مَثَلُ الْحَنْظَلِ طَعْمُهَا خَبِيثٌ وَرِيحُهَا»

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ: "The example of the believer who recites the Qur'an is that of a citron: its taste is good and its fragrance is good. The example of the believer who does not recite the Qur'an is that of a date: its taste is good but it has no fragrance. The example of the hypocrite who recites the Qur'an is that of basil: its fragrance is good but its taste is bitter. The example of the hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'an is that of colocynth: its taste is bitter and it has no fragrance."
