أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْهِ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْتُ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أَمَةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} [النساء 41] غَمَزَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهِ فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَعَيْنَاهُ تَدْمَعَانِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me to recite to him while he was on the pulpit. So I recited Surah al-Nisa' to him until when I reached: {So how will it be when We bring from every nation a witness and bring you as a witness against these?} [al-Nisa' 41], the Messenger of Allah ﷺ nudged me with his hand, so I looked at him, and his eyes were shedding tears.
