أَخْبَرَنَا طَلِيقُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ السَّكَنِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «عَلَى أَبِي مُوسَى ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ» فَقَالَ «لَقَدْ أُعْطِيَ مِنْ مَزَامِيرِ آلِ دَاوُدَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ ذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لَهُ» فَقَالَ «لَوْ كُنْتَ أَعْلَمْتَنِي لَحَبَّرْتُ ذَلِكَ تَحْبِيرًا»

Translation

  4. ʿAbdullāh b. Buraydah from his father

✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by Abu Musa one night while he was reciting, and said: "He has been given one of the flutes of the family of Dawud." When morning came, they mentioned that to him, and he said: "Had you informed me, I would have embellished it beautifully."
