✧ Seeking Refuge from the Evil of Destiny

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سُمَيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ هَذِهِ الثَّلَاثَةِ مِنْ دَرَكِ الشَّقَاءِ وَشَمَاتَةِ الْأَعْدَاءِ وَسُوءِ الْقَضَاءِ وَجَهْدِ الْبَلَاءِ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ هُوَ ثَلَاثَةٌ فَذَكَرْتُ أَرْبَعَةً لِأَنِّي لَا أَحْفَظُ الْوَاحِدَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ فِيهِ

Translation

Chain of narrators

  3. Sumay
  4. Abū Ṣāliḥ
  5. Abū Hurayrah

✧ The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge from these three: the grasp of misery, the gloating of enemies, and the evil of destiny, and the severity of affliction. Sufyan said: 'He said three, but I mentioned four because I do not remember the one that is not in it.'
