أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ

عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الْأَوْدِيِّ كَانَ سَعْدٌ يُعَلِّمُ بَنِيهِ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ كَمَا يُعَلِّمُ الْمُعَلِّمُ الْغِلْمَانَ وَيَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «كَانَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْهُنَّ دُبُرَ الصَّلَاةِ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبُخْلِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَرُدَّ إِلَى أَرْذَلِ الْعُمُرِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدُّنْيَا وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ» فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهَا مُصْعَبًا فَصَدَّقَهُ

Translation

✧ From 'Amr b. Maymun al-Awdi: Sa'd used to teach his children these words just as a teacher teaches boys to write, and he would say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to seek refuge from them after the prayer: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from being returned to the worst age, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of this world, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave." So I narrated it to Mus'ab and he confirmed it.
