أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ عَنِ اللَّيْثِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي صَفْوَانُ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَا بَعَثَ اللهُ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ وَلَا كَانَ بَعْدَهُ خَلِيفَةٌ إِلَّا لَهُ بِطَانَتَانِ بِطَانَةٌ تَأْمُرُهُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَاهُ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَبِطَانَةٌ لَا تَأْلُوهُ خَبَالًا فَمَنْ وُقِيَ بِطَانَةَ السَّوْءِ فَقَدْ وُقِيَ

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “Allah has not sent a prophet, nor has there been a caliph after him, without there being for him two inner circles: a circle that commands him to what is right and forbids him from what is wrong, and a circle that spares no effort to bring him ruin. Whoever is protected from the evil circle is indeed protected.”
