✧ The Sale of Women

أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ لَمَّا أَرَدْتُ
أَنْ أُبَايِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ امْرَأَةً أَسْعَدَتْنِي فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَذْهَبَ فَأُسْعِدُهَا ثُمَّ أَجِيئُكَ فَأُبَايِعُكَ قَالَ «اذْهَبِي» فَذَهَبْتُ فَسَاعَدْتُهَا ثُمَّ جِئْتُ فَبَايَعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ

✧ I wanted to pledge allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: O Messenger of Allah, a woman helped me in the pre-Islamic period, so I will go and help her, then I will come to you and pledge allegiance. He said: "Go." So I went and helped her, then I came and pledged allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ.
