✧ The amount of water sufficient for a person to perform ablution.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبَّادَ بْنَ تَمِيمٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ وَهِيَ أُمُّ عُمَارَةَ بِنْتُ كَعْبٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ فَأُتِيَ بِمَاءٍ فِي إِنَاءٍ قَدْرَ ثُلُثَيِ الْمُدِّ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ فَأَحْفَظُ أَنَّهُ غَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ يَدْلُكُهُمَا وَمَسَحَ أُذُنَيْهِ بَاطِنَهُمَا وَلَا أَحْفَظُ أَنَّهُ مَسَحَ ظَاهِرَهُمَا

✧ The Prophet ﷺ performed ablution, and water was brought in a vessel of about two-thirds of a mudd. Shu'bah said: I remember that he washed his forearms and rubbed them, and wiped the inside of his ears, but I do not remember that he wiped their outer part.
