أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ عَنِ اللَّيْثِ عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَيْهِمْ قُمُصٌ مِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ الثُّدِيَّ وَمِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ دُونَ ذَلِكَ عَرَضَ عَلَيَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ وَعَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ يَجُرُّهُ» قُلْتُ فَمَا أَوَّلْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «الدِّينُ»

✧ He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "While I was sleeping, I saw people being presented to me, and they wore shirts. Some reached the breasts and some reached lower than that. Umar ibn al-Khattab was presented to me, and he wore a shirt that he was dragging." I said: "How did you interpret it, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Religion."
