أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يُونُسَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي يُونُسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْفُرَاتِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمُرَ
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الطَّاعُونِ؟ فَأَخْبَرَهَا نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ «أَنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابًا يَبْعَثُهُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ شَاءَ فَجَعَلَهُ رَحْمَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَلَيْسَ مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَقَعُ فِي الطَّاعُونِ فَيَمْكُثُ فِي بَلَدِهِ صَابِرًا مُحْتَسِبًا يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ لَنْ يُصِيبَهُ إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ اللهُ لَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ شَهِيدٍ»

✧ From ‘A’ishah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, that she asked the Prophet ﷺ about the plague. The Prophet of God ﷺ told her that it was a punishment that God sent upon whom He willed, and He made it a mercy for the believers. There is no servant who is afflicted with the plague and remains in his land patiently, seeking reward, knowing that nothing will befall him except what God has decreed for him, but he will have a reward like that of a martyr.
