أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَيْمَنَ قَالَ

لَمْ يَقْطَعِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ السَّارِقَ إِلَّا فِي ثَمَنِ الْمِجَنِّ قَالَ وَثَمَنُ الْمِجَنِّ يَوْمَئِذٍ دِينَارٌ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ did not cut off [the hand of] a thief except for [stealing] the price of a shield. He said: "And the price of a shield at that time was a dinar."
