أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ذُكِرَ

التَّلَاعُنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ فِي ذَلِكَ قَوْلًا ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ يَشْكُو إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ وَجَدَ مَعَ أَهْلِهِ رَجُلًا فَقَالَ عَاصِمٌ مَا ابْتُلِيتُ إِلَّا بِقَوْلِي فَذَهَبَ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِالَّذِي وَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ امْرَأَتَهُ وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ مُصْفَرًّا قَلِيلَ اللَّحْمِ سَبِطَ الشَّعْرِ وَكَانَ الَّذِي يَدَّعِي عَلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ وَجَدَهُ عِنْدَ أَهْلِهِ خَدْلًا كَثِيرَ اللَّحْمِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اللهُمَّ بَيِّنْ فَوَضَعَتْ شَبِيهًا بِالرَّجُلِ الَّذِي ذَكَرَ زَوْجُهَا أَنَّهُ وَجَدَهُ عِنْدَهَا فَلَاعَنْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ» بَيْنَهُمَا فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ هِيَ الَّتِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْ رَجَمْتُ أَحَدًا بِغَيْرِ بَيِّنَةٍ رَجَمْتُ هَذِهِ؟» فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لَا تِلْكَ امْرَأَةٌ كَانَتْ تُظْهِرُ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ الشَّرَّ

✧ The mutual cursing took place in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. ʿĀṣim b. ʿAdī made a statement about that and then left. Then a man from his people came to him complaining that he had found a man with his wife. ʿĀṣim said: “I have only been afflicted because of my statement.” So he took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him of what he had found his wife upon. That man was light-skinned, with little flesh, and lank hair, while the one whom he claimed he found with his wife was well-fleshed with much meat. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “O Allah, make it clear.” Then she gave birth to a child resembling the man whom her husband mentioned he had found with her. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had them pronounce the mutual cursing between them. A man said to Ibn ʿAbbās in the gathering: “Is she the one about whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘If I were to stone anyone without evidence, I would stone this woman’?” Ibn ʿAbbās said: “No, that was a woman who used to openly display evil in Islam.”
