What the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do when he felt pain during his illness

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي صَالِحُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ وَابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ حَدَّثَاهُ

أَنَّهُ لَمَّا نَزَلَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ طَفِقَ يَطْرَحُ خَمِيصَةً عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَإِذَا اغْتَمَّ كَشَفَهَا عَنْ وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ وَهُوَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ «لَعْنَةُ اللهِ عَلَى الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى اتَّخَذُوا قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسَاجِدَ» حَذَرًا عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ مَا صَنَعُوا وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was dying, he began to throw a velvet cloak over his face, and when he became distressed he would uncover his face. While doing that he said, 'May the curse of Allah be upon the Jews and the Christians; they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship,' out of fear for his community of what they had done. Al-Zuhri also narrated this hadith from Sa'id b. al-Musayyab from Abu Hurayrah.
