أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الشَّعْبِيُّ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَلَا إِنَّهُ نَزَلَ تَحْرِيمُ الْخَمْرِ يَوْمَ نَزَلَ وَهِيَ مِنْ خَمْسَةٍ «مِنَ الْعِنَبِ وَالتَّمْرِ وَالْعَسَلِ وَالْحِنْطَةِ وَالشَّعِيرِ وَالْخَمْرُ مَا خَامَرَ الْعَقْلَ»

✧ O people, indeed the prohibition of wine was revealed on the day it was revealed, and it is from five things: from grapes, dates, honey, wheat, and barley. And wine is whatever clouds the intellect.
