أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ يُونُسَ وَهُوَ الْإِسْكَافُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

مَا أَكَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي خِوَانٍ وَلَا سُكُرُّجَةٍ وَلَا خُبِزَ لَهُ مُرَقَّقٌ قُلْتُ فَعَلَامَ كَانُوا يَأْكُلُونَ؟ قَالَ عَلَى هَذِهِ السُّفَرِ 6592 أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ يُونُسَ نَحْوَهُ قَالَ وَقُلْتُ لِقَتَادَةَ عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ كَانُوا يَأْكُلُونَ؟ قَالَ عَلَى السُّفَرِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never ate at a low table, nor from a small serving dish, nor was thin bread baked for him. I said, “Then on what did they eat?” He said, “On these leather dining cloths.” 6592 Ishaq b. Ibrahim informed us; he said: Mu‘adh b. Hisham informed us; he said: My father narrated to us from Yunus something similar. He said: And I said to Qatadah, “On what did they eat?” He said, “On leather dining cloths.”
