✧ The virtue of giving charity to the deceased

أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزْيَدٍ الْبَيْرُوتِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

اسْتَفْتَى سَعْدٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نَذْرٍ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّهِ فَتُوُفِّيَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَقْضِيَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اقْضِهِ عَنْهَا»

✧ Saʿd sought a ruling from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning a vow that was upon his mother, and she died before fulfilling it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Fulfill it on her behalf.”
