أَخْبَرَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو مَذْكُورٍ أَعْتَقَ غُلَامًا لَهُ عَنْ دُبُرٍ

يُقَالُ لَهُ يَعْقُوبُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرَهُ فَدَعَا بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ مَنْ يَشْتَرِيهِ؟ مَنْ يَشْتَرِيهِ؟ فَاشْتَرَاهُ نُعَيْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بِثَمَانِمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ «إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَقِيرًا فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِنَفْسِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ فَضْلًا فَعَلَى عِيَالِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ فَضْلًا فَعَلَى قَرَابَتِهِ» أَوْ قَالَ عَلَى ذِي رَحِمِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ فَضْلًا فَهَاهُنَا وَهَاهُنَا

✧ He was called Yaʿqūb, and he had no property other than him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for him and said: “Who will buy him? Who will buy him?” Nuʿaym b. ʿAbd Allah bought him for eight hundred dirhams, and he gave the money to him. Then he said: “If one of you is poor, let him begin with himself. If there is anything left over, then for his dependents. If there is anything left over, then for his relatives” – or he said “for his kin” – “and if there is anything left over, then here and here.”
