أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْمَكِّيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

أَدْرَكَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَكُنْتُ عَلَى نَاضِحٍ لَنَا فَقُلْتُ لَا يَزَالُ لَنَا نَاضِحُ سَوْءٍ يَا لَهْفَاهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تَبِيعُهُ يَا جَابِرُ؟» قُلْتُ بَلْ هُوَ لَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ اللهُمَّ ارْحَمْهُ قَالَ أَخَذْتُهُ بِكَذَا وَكَذَا وَقَدْ أَعَرْتُكَ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ « فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ هَيَّأْتُهُ فَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ» يَا بِلَالُ أَعْطِهِ ثَمَنَهُ « فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرْتُ دَعَانِي فَخِفْتُ أَنْ يَرُدَّهُ عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ» هُوَ لَكَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ caught up with me while I was on a weak camel of ours. I said: "We always have a bad camel; woe is me!" The Prophet ﷺ said: "Will you sell it to me, O Jabir?" I said: "No, it is yours, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "O Allah, forgive him; O Allah, have mercy on him." He said: "I took it for such and such, and I have lent you its back until Madinah." When I reached Madinah, I prepared it and brought it to him. He said: "O Bilal, give him its price." When I turned away, he called me, and I feared he would return it to me, but he said: "It is yours."
