✧ Who gives the testimony without being asked about it

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ قَالَ

قَدِمْتُ الْبَصْرَةَ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَيْسَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ قَوْمٌ سِمَانٌ يُعْطُونَ الشَّهَادَةَ وَلَا يُسْأَلُونَهَا»

✧ I came to Basrah and there was a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, not Anas b. Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then there will come a people who are plump and they will give testimony without being asked for it.'
