✧ Prevention of the ruler from acting against what they have done to their subjects

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ بْنِ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَعْتَقَ غُلَامًا لَهُ

عَنْ دُبُرٍ وَكَانَ مُحْتَاجًا فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَدَعَاهُ فَقَالَ «أَعْتَقْتَ غُلَامَكَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَنْتَ أَحْوَجُ إِلَيْهِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَنْ يَشْتَرِيهِ؟» قَالَ نُعَيْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَا فَاشْتَرَاهُ فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ثَمَنَهُ فَدَفَعَهُ إِلَى صَاحِبِهِ

✧ A man freed a slave after his death, and he was in need. He mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, so he called him and said: “Did you free your slave?” He said: “Yes.” The Prophet ﷺ said: “You are more in need of him.” Then he said: “Who will buy him?” Nuʿaym b. ʿAbd Allāh said: “I will.” So he bought him, and the Prophet ﷺ took the price and gave it to the owner.
