أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يُونُسَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ

طَلَّقْتُ امْرَأَتِي وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عُمَرُ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «فَلْيُرَاجِعْهَا فَإِذَا طَهُرَتْ يَعْنِي فَإِنْ شَاءَ فَلْيُطَلِّقْهَا » قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ فَاحْتَسِبْ بِهَا قَالَ مَا يَمْنَعُهُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ عَجَزَ وَاسْتَحْمَقَ

✧ I divorced my wife while she was menstruating. 'Umar came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Let him take her back, and when she becomes pure—meaning, if he wishes, he may divorce her.” I said to Ibn 'Umar: “And count it [as a divorce]?” He said: “What prevents him? Consider: if he is unable or foolish.”
