أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ كَعْبٍ عَنِ الْفُرَيْعَةِ بِنْتِ مَالِكٍ
أَنَّ زَوْجَهَا تَكَارَى عُلُوجًا لِيَعْمَلُوا لَهُ فَقَتَلُوهُ فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَتْ إِنِّي لَسْتُ فِي مَسْكَنٍ لَهُ وَلَا يَجْرِي عَلَيَّ مِنْهُ رِزْقٌ أَفَأَنْتَقِلُ إِلَى أَهْلِي وَيَتَامَايَ فَأَقُومُ عَلَيْهِمْ؟ قَالَ افْعَلِي ثُمَّ قَالَ كَيْفَ قُلْتُ فَأَعَادَتْ عَلَيْهِ قَوْلَهَا قَالَ «اعْتَدِّي حَيْثُ بَلَغَكِ الْخَبَرُ»

✧ Her husband hired some non-Arab laborers to work for him, but they killed him. She mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: “I am not in a dwelling that belongs to him, and no provision from him reaches me. May I move to my family and my orphan children so that I can look after them?” He said: “Do so.” Then he said: “What did you say?” She repeated her words. He said: “Observe your waiting period wherever the news reaches you.”
