أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ النَّسَائِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ قَالَتْ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ هَذَا عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ «لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ أَنْ تُحِدَّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثِ لَيَالٍ إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying this on the pulpit: “It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and His Messenger to mourn a deceased person for more than three nights, except for a husband, four months and ten days.”
