✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us the istikhara in all matters, just as he used to teach us a surah from the Quran. He would say: 'When one of you intends a matter, let him pray two rak'ahs other than the obligatory prayer, then say: O Allah, I seek Your guidance by Your knowledge, and I seek Your power by Your might, and I ask You of Your immense bounty. For You have power and I have none, and You know and I do not know, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my ultimate destiny—or he said: in my immediate and my deferred affairs—then decree it for me, make it easy for me, and bless me in it. And if You know that this matter is evil for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my ultimate destiny—or he said: in my immediate and my deferred affairs—then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree for me good wherever it may be, then make me content with it.' He said: And he names his need.
