✧ Marriage for four hundred dirhams

أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «تَزَوَّجَهَا وَهِيَ بِأَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ زَوَّجَهَا النَّجَاشِيُّ وَأَمْهَرَهَا أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافٍ وَجَهَّزَهَا مِنْ عِنْدِهِ وَبَعَثَ بِهَا مَعَ شُرَحْبِيلِ بْنِ حَسَنَةَ وَلَمْ يَبْعَثْ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِشَيْءٍ وَكَانَ مَهْرُ نِسَائِهِ أَرْبَعَمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married her while she was in the land of Abyssinia. The Negus married her to him, gave her a dowry of four thousand, prepared her from his own resources, and sent her with Shurahbil b. Hasanah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not send anything to her. The dowry of his wives was four hundred dirhams.
