✧ The prohibition of every intoxicating drink

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ الطُّفَيْلِ الْجَزَرِيِّ قَالَ

كَتَبَ إِلَيْنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ «أَلَا تَشْرَبُوا مِنَ الطِّلَاءِ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ ثُلُثَاهُ وَيَبْقَى ثُلُثُهُ وَكُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ»

Translation

✧ Umar b. Abd al-Aziz wrote to us: “Do not drink from tila' until two-thirds of it have gone and one-third remains. Every intoxicant is forbidden.”
