✧ The prohibition of every intoxicating drink

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ شَيْبَانَ السَّدُوسِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءً سَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ

«إِنَّا نَرْكَبُ فِي أَسْفَارِنَا فَتَبْرُزُ لَنَا الْأَشْرِبَةُ فِي أَسْوَاقٍ مَا نَدْرِي مَا أَوْعِيَتُهَا» فَقَالَ «كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ فَذَهَبْتُ فَذَهَبَ يُعِيدُ» فَقَالَ «كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ فَذَهَبَ يُعِيدُ» فَقَالَ «هُوَ مَا أَقُولُ لَكَ»

Translation

✧ “We ride on our journeys, and drinks appear before us in markets, and we do not know what their vessels are.” He said: “Every intoxicant is forbidden.” He went away, then he came back and repeated. He said: “Every intoxicant is forbidden.” He went away and repeated. He said: “It is as I tell you.”
