al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 5053

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنْ وِقَاءِ بْنِ إِيَاسٍ عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَجْمَعَ شَيْئَيْنِ نَبِيذًا مِمَّا يَبْغِي أَحَدُهُمَا عَلَى صَاحِبِهِ» قَالَ وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْفَضِيخِ «فَنَهَانِي عَنْهُ» قَالَ «وَكَانَ يَكْرَهُ الْمُذَنَّبَ مِنَ الْبُسْرِ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَكُونَا شَيْئَيْنِ فَكُنَّا نَقْطَعُهُ»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade us to combine two things in a drink when one of them overpowers its companion. He said: I asked him about fadikh (soaked unripe dates), and he forbade me from it. He said: "He used to dislike the muthannab (dates with tails) of unripe dates for fear that they might be two things, so we would cut them off."
